The networking standards of Bluetooth will transmit data via low power radio frequency. Bluetooth communicates on a 2.45 GHz frequency. This very band of frequency has been set aside by international agreement for the use of industrial and medical devices.

Many devices that you already known and use take advantage of this frequency band. Garage door openers, baby monitors, and the next generation of mobile phones all use this frequency within the ISM band. Ensuring that Bluetooth and the other devices do not interfere with each other is a crucial part of the design process.

One of the ways Bluetooth will avoid interfering with other electronic devices is by sending out weak signals of around 1 mw. In comparison, even the most powerful of cell phones can transmit a signal of 3 watts.

The low power signals will limit the range of a Bluetooth device to around 32 feet, which cut the chances of interference between your computer and other electronic devices. Even though it has low power, Bluetooth does not require a line of sight between the communicating devices. The walls in your home will not stop the signal, making it great for rooms throughout the house.

Bluetooth can connect 8 devices at the same time. With each of those devices on the same radius, you may think they would interfere with each other, although it is very unlikely. Bluetooth utilizes a technique known as low frequency hopping, which makes it harder for more than one device to transmit on the same frequency at the same time.

With this technique, a device will use 79 individual, randomly chosen frequencies within a designated range, which change from one another

on a regular basis.

In the case of Bluetooth, the transmitters will change frequency 1,600 times or more every second, meaning that more devices can make full

use of the radio spectrum. Since every transmitter of Bluetooth will use spread spectrum automatically, it is very unlikely that two

transmitters will be on the same frequency at the exact same time.

When the Bluetooth devices come within close range of each other, an electronic conversation will occur to determine whether or not they have data to share or whether one needs to take total control. The user does not have any buttons to press or commands to give, as the conversation will occur automatically.

Once the conversation has occured, the devices will form a network. Bluetooth devices will create a PAN (Personal Area Network) or piconet that may fill a room. Once the piconet has been established, the devices will randomly hop in frequencies.

Bluetooth technology profiles will describe how the technology is used. Profiles can be best described as vertical slices through the protocol stack. It will define options in each protocol that are mandatory for the profile.

The profile will also define the parameter ranges for each protocol. The concept of the profile is used to decrease the risk of interoperability problems between the different products. These profiles will not normally define any additions to the Bluetooth specification, which is why you can add new profiles where you need them. The Bluetooth underlying technology is the same, only the specific method that it’s used is defined.

Generally speaking, all profiles of Bluetooth are based on the GAP (Generic Access Profile). There are many profiles that fall in the GAP category.

a) AVRCP, Audio/Video Remote Control Profile

b) ESDP, Extended Service Discovery Profile

c) CIP, Common ISDN Access Profile

d) PAN, Public Area Network Profile

e) HCRP, Hardcopy Cable Replacement Profile

f) GAVDP, Generic Audio/Visual Distribution Profile

g) A2DP, Advanced Audio Distribution Profile

h) VDP, Video Distribution Profile

i) HID, Human Interface Device Profile

To put it another way, usage models will describe Bluetooth device applications and the associated profiles that are used. The usage model focuses mainly on three categories; voice/data access points, peripheral interconnects, and PAN (Personal Area Networking).

The voice and data access points involve connecting computing devices to communicating devices through a wireless link. This way, data can be transferred in a wireless manor, without the need of cables or other types of connectivity.

PAN is another very important usage model with strong appeal to business customers. Bluetooth networks are easy to set up in virtually any type of environment. An example would be meeting others at a trade show.

Instead of having contact information beamed via infrared, business cards can quickly and easily be transferred via Bluetooth wireless. The fact is that many documents can be exchanged this very same way, making the uses and possibilities virtually endless.

The Bluetooth profile is very important to the specification, as it enables you to do so much more. You can use peripherals and devices with the profiles, and virtually anything else that you decide.

As Bluetooth expands and gets bigger and better, you can count on the profiles to expand and get even more functions. If you have experience with Bluetooth profiles, you should know exactly what they are and what you can do with them. If not, all you need is a Bluetooth device, and a vivid imagination.

The Origins of the Game

Let It Ride Poker has originated from the Five-Card Stud Poker Game. This game gave gamers the choice of controlling two out of three bets. The players even have the option of pulling out their bets or “let it ride”. Let It Ride Poker is often compared to other games as Video Poker, Pai Gow Poker and Caribbean Stud Poker. All of these are mostly new derivations of the original characteristic game of Poker. The difference between let it ride and the others is that let it ride is a single-player game. This implies that the player is playing against the machine and not the other players.

Method of Playing Let It Ride

Let It Ride is a game that was started in 1993. A company called Shuffle Master Inc, which makes the automatic-shuffling machines, fashioned it. The game became a rage and it continues to maintain its popular status. A major reason for its popularity is that it provides immense scope for winning high stakes. The game is an offshoot of poker.

The aim is to gather a pair of 10s or more by using three cards given to the player and two “community” cards of the dealer. In addition, the nature of the game is such that the players are not competing against each other. All the players play against the house or the casino. This creates an atmosphere of friendship and fun. The rules are simple and the game can be learned quickly.

The basic steps to master the game are outlined:

1. Study how the poker hands are ranked.

2. Discover a Let It Ride table.

3. Purchase the chips or the tokens.

4. Set three equal wagers in the betting area.

5. Carefully scrutinize the cards that the dealer gives you.

6. You must now very carefully determine whether you want to take down your first bet or you want to let it ride.

7. If you choose to take the bet, take it down by signaling to the dealer.

8. If you choose to let it ride, then you must let it ride by brandishing your hand over the bet.

9. The dealer will then show one community card. Study the card.

10. Now repeat the earlier step. You must choose whether to take the second bet or to let it ride simply.

11. The dealer will again show a community card. Confirm whether you have a winning hand.

A stream of postcard printing technologies and custom printing options has emerged in recent years. The use and features of this century-old print medium received face-lifts, which allowed people to reinvent and experiment on postcards. Coupled with new offerings in mailing schemes, such as direct mailing, postcards have gone beyond simply being a greeting material.

Postcards are rectangular card pieces that usually have a front panel that contains a picture and a back side with space intended for a short message, the mailing address and a stamp. These are meant to be mailed without envelopes. Direct mailing, on the other hand, is a service offered as a form of distribution wherein specific sample sizes are selected and sent as mails with advertisement contents.

Enterprising groups and individuals have resulted to tapping postcard printing and direct mailing to create a marketing strategy combination that’s both effective and economical.

When can you employ both strategies for marketing?

This depends on what you are offering and who you want to be involved. Are you selling a product, advertising a service or announcing an event? Are you targeting housewives, car owners or young members of the workforce? Once you establish answers for these questions, then it’s to know more about the basics of these two.

For what marketing purpose can I use both?

•	New product or service

When you want to introduce a new item or service in the market, mass mailing postcards showcasing this can certainly create a wave of buzz. A picture, a short description and brightly colored letters for your product’s name all add up to a striking ad material.

Confident that a little of your product is enough to hook them up, include a return stub or a contact number that they can reach ask for free samples. You can also include promotional offerings such as raffles, with your postcards already pre-encoded with number permutations for the draw.

•	Event Announcement

Another interesting use for these strategies is announcing big events such as trade fairs, exhibits, clearance sales, seminars, parties, movie premiers, product launchings and store openings.

Your postcards may serve as or contain the invitation to these events. A tear-ready stub on the postcard can be presented at the entrance with the rest of the postcard serving as a souvenir or, just its core purpose, as an ad campaign material.

•	Information dissemination

If your aim is simply to spread information about you, your company or your product, postcards and direct mailing can do wonders.

If, for example, you’re a financial coach, you can send out postcards detailing your services, such as money management and investment planning. With customized postcards, it is even possible to include your business card on the postcard and that’s made detachable by perforations. These can then be mass mailed directly to your specified target clients like businessmen or retirees.

Launching your product to the market mainstream, publicizing an upcoming affair or shedding some more light on your merchandise or service – postcard printing and direct mailing will certainly help you save on marketing expenses since they cost less than ad productions, and TV or radio spots. They generate attention at the fraction of the price. Low-cost and target-specific, this duo opens possibilities to dynamic marketing techniques.

The phone is ringing off the hook, you have 72 emails in your inbox and your desk looks as though it’s being consumed by paperwork. You have three options; you could take on these tasks yourself, hire an Administrative Assistant, or seek the services of a qualified Virtual Assistant. If you decide to put in some overtime and tackle the job yourself, at least you’ll be saving some money…or will you? Let’s examine this option further. Assume that you are more qualified than any Administrative Assistant you could hire. That is to say you have an absolute advantage in running the company and carrying out the required administrative tasks. For example, suppose that you type 15 pages per hour and that your prospective Assistant only types 10 pages per hour. You need to have a 60 page report typed. It would take you 4 hours to complete the job yourself, and your Assistant would take 6 hours. Believe it or not, the cost savings still lies in having your Assistant perform the task. This follows from two simple economic concepts: opportunity cost and comparative advantage. I asked Dr. William Sims a Professor and Chair of the Economics Department at Concordia University in Montréal to explain these two concepts further:

Comparative advantage is a concept used by economists to explain international trade. It suggests that even if a country has an absolute advantage in the production of all goods, it will maximize its wealth by specializing in those commodities in which it has the greatest advantage and trading for the others. For example, Martha Stewart may have an absolute advantage relative to just about everyone she could hire in cooking and cleaning. Should we then conclude that she should do the cooking and cleaning at home or should she outsource these activities? The answer clearly rests on the opportunity cost of her carrying out these tasks versus the cost of hiring someone else to do them. Her comparative advantage is likely in growing her business. Outsourcing is almost certainly the wealth maximizing strategy for Ms. Stewart.

In the context of our example, the opportunity cost of you carrying out the Administrative tasks yourself is the value of the time you will lose that you could have spent on other things, such as growing your business or spending time with your family and friends. There are only so many hours in a day. Let’s assume that you can make $150 dollars per hour for every hour you spend growing your business. The opportunity cost of you doing your own typing would be $600.00, whereas the cost of the Assistant doing the work (assuming an effective wage of $43.28 (calculations shown later)) is $259.68. Using the Assistant would result in a savings of over $340.00. Although your prospective Assistant would take 50% longer to complete the task, you would still be wise to maximize your wealth by spending your time growing your business. Despite the fact that you have an absolute advantage at typing, the Assistant has a comparative advantage (i.e. a lower cost) in carrying out administrative tasks. You should therefore, specialize in the task in which you have the greatest advantage.

Perhaps you’ve decided that you would profit by hiring an Administrative Assistant. But what about the other option, the Virtual Assistant? Hiring a VA couldn’t possibly be less expensive than hiring an Administrative Assistant, right? Wrong! According to Monster.ca, the median salary of an Administrative Assistant in Toronto is $42,837 per year. Assuming a 40 hour work week and a 52 week year, this employee would be paid for 2080 hours throughout the year at a rate of $20.60 per hour. This would seem quite reasonable but, according to a new survey by America Online and Salary.com, the average worker admits to wasting 2.09 hours per 8 hour workday on non-work related activities. So, assuming that an Administrative Assistant takes a 0.5 hour lunch and has 0.5 hours in break time, the work year turns into 1276.6 hours. This yields an effective hourly rate of $33.56.

Next we incorporate benefits. According to the Greater Toronto Marketing Alliance, the approximate total benefits paid by the average Ontario employer are 28.97%. This means the average Ontario employer pays $42,837 x 28.97% = $55,247 per year. This is an effective hourly rate of $43.28. This result would be even higher if we included the cost of office space and equipment.

As for the Virtual Assistant option, rates for VAs are usually between $20-45 per hour and can even be as much as $75 per hour for VAs that specializes in a particular field. The downside here is that although a VA is a qualified professional Administrative Assistant, he/she is also an entrepreneur and is therefore not available at your beck and call. Nevertheless, in working with a Virtual Assistant, you would pay only for the time spent on task and you have the added benefits that you don’t need to buy any office furniture and equipment, pay any benefits or allocate any extra space. It would seem likely at an early stage of a business’ lifecycle, if the administrative tasks are not sufficient to warrant hiring a full time employee, the best solution would be a Virtual Assistant. Indeed even if the workload justifies a full time employee the calculations above might suggest the VA route should be considered.

The choice is ultimately yours. If you can’t bring yourself to let go of even the smallest of tasks, you might be more comfortable continuing to do everything yourself. But, if you have decided you need help, your next decision should be whether to hire an Employee or use the services of a qualified Virtual Assistant. Carefully measure the benefits and cost involved with both options. Hopefully this article will allow you to make an informed decision.

People these days are trying many options to get more money. There are many ways to do that but people are not content with just getting it conventionally. They want it fast, easy and in big amounts. For that reason, many are resorting to the forex market. In forex market, money is indeed fast but not really easy. Many websites and software developers are advertising the forex trade as an easy thing to do. They may be right in some ways but in reality, the forex trade is as difficult as any business if there is not enough knowledge and expertise that goes with it.Succeeding in the forex trade is for people who take time to study the system before jumping in. There are people who have bad experience regarding currency trading because they act too soon. Forex trade is really not for the amateur who knows nothing about how the business works. It would be best to start learning the system first and all the things connected with it before ever deciding to engage in any trade. Forex trade is different from other trades. It requires tools and analysis. Knowing the system is definitely a plus. One of the very recent changes in the system is the Forex options. This gives the trader the ability to control his forex trade and the risks involved. Forex options greatly reduces the risk involved in a forex trade. The trader will have the ability to buy currency based on observable facts about the options. Losing is not so much of a problem for the trader because the only money at stake is the premium he paid.

Lets face it. There are just some people like Claire in Six Feet Under here in this world. Claire may simply be a TV character but she reflects some of the demographics in the American population.
People like Claire are those who refuse to be confined in a corporate system. They do not want to wear suits, skirts and pantyhose for nine hours straight. For short, they do not wish to go to the office day in and day out.
Lately, because of the popularity of the work at home options, more and more corporations are leering toward that direction. They know that there are people out there who could just not devote 1/3 of their whole day to work when they have 1/3 sleeping and 1/3 doing other stuff.
At least when people work at home, they control their own schedule. They can devote this time doing the work and have the other hours doing something else. For stay-at-home moms, this is also convenient because at least they can also spend time with their kids.
But a warning: You may see these ads everywhere from street light to your local telephone poles, on newspaper or on PC ads and these may seem that it is so accessible especially when you are at the comfort of your own home, you must always be careful.
Not all work at home opportunities will actually give you what they promised.
Ads have learned the trick to not say the stuff that can actually turn the interested clientele off. For example, some ads won’t mention that you would have to pay for many hours without pay.
Then there are a bountiful work-at-home schemes that asks you to spend your own money so that you can spread the word about the business, promising that they will reimburse it but they wouldn’t.
So here’s the thing. If you are interested to work in your home for your convenience and such an opportunity come your way, you have a right to ask questions. Working at home is still a job opportunity and just like any other opportunity, you as an employee also hold the right to ask your employer the questions in your head.
Examples:
1. Ask them what tasks you will have to perform. You must have a detailed job description list because if not, you could be doing more than what you actually agreed on and getting less financially.
2. When will you be paid? Some work at home schemes promise that you will be paid every end of the month so you wait, but then only get disappointed because they weren’t true to their word.
3. If your work at home task involve sales, ask them if you get paid based on commission. Specifically ask the rate of payment and make sure that it is clear so that you will not be in the losing end. Have it on paper as much as possible so you have a document to back up your statements.
4. Who will pay you? Because it is a work at home, it is hard to determine who your employers are because there is no physical contact. There must be some form of trust for you to at least have contact with the person who will pay you.
5. If your work at home requires you to have supplies or equipments, ask them who would pay for it? Should it be you or them? If it is you, it is only fair enough that they reimburse you with whatever costs you shell out because it is not your responsibility to fund for their business. It is your responsibility to work for them and get paid.
You can complain to the Federal Trade Commission if you’ve experienced some work at home inconsistencies. Call 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357) or log on to www.ftc.gov.

If you’re desperate to grow your business to make a lot more money for all the effort you put in then this may be the most important article you’ll read all year long. For some reason, most business owners think that there is some kind of complex, highly technical, almost mysterious solution to this problem.
And maybe technology has a little to do with it, because every other week there’s a new gadget out that promises to make your life easier. All you have to do is buy. The answer to this problem is a lot simpler than you think. More over, it’s a lot easier to implement than you think too.
So how can you quickly and easily steamroll your competition and leave them in the dust? While laughing all the way to the bank?
Take a deep breath, and relax, you’re about to move just a little closer to your dreams. Ready? Let’s go:
1. Work your current customer list – start with the easiest market to convert. These people have already bought from you before. Studies show that they are twice as likely to buy than a person who’s never bought from you before.
2. Work your past customer list – again, these are people who’ve bought from you before. Start mailing them again, call on them, and make every effort to contact them again with your current promotions. Tell your prospect why they should buy now, how to buy and why they need to do it now.
3. Eliminate spending money on ads that are ineffective – cut down on the institutional ads. These ads are designed only to keep your name in front of people, and not to make a sale. They are non-trackable and a waste of money. Advertising is pure salesmanship. No matter what medium you use, TV, radio, or newspapers, it’s still mass salesmanship. As obvious as it would be, most businesses don’t really understand the very purpose of running an ad. The purpose of running your ad is to stimulate an immediate response. This can be a phone call, a visit to your website, or better – an instant sale. By using direct response advertising, you can help prevent wasting your valuable time and money.
4. Follow up – after you do a mailing, follow up with some kind of telemarketing effort. Tests have proven over and over again, that by using a telemarketing effort as a follow up enhances your total results by 400%, 600% and up to 1,000%. That’s three to ten times more sales, just by following up AFTER mailing a letter.
5. Keep following up – one of the best examples of good follow up is Omaha Steaks. I ordered from them one time, and they immediately followed up 2 weeks later. Then, another 2 weeks passed by, and again they followed up with a phone call. On the third attempt, I ordered a large family package. People who are strongly motivated in your products and services are more likely to buy. But you have to be tenacious about it. It takes an average of 8 to 9 contact attempts until an interest prospect buys. Keep calling, writing, and calling, and writing. Don’t let them slip away once they buy, keep building that relationship.
6. Upsell – best example is any McDonald’s or Burger King drive-thru. When you first drive up, you’ll be asked if you want such and such value meal. Then, after you put in your order, you’ll be asked if you want fries with that or such and such. This technique is a no-brainer. But the sad part is that very few businesses employ this strategy. For every customer you sell to, you simply upsell them. Instead of letting them just buy one thing, offer them a package or additional services or products that go along with that. Almost any type of business can upsell. Car sales people are really good at this. After they’ve sold you the car, they add all kinds of neat options to the sale. In some cases your upsell could equal or even exceed the profit from the original sale. But make sure that you create a believable and compelling reason as to why you’re offering the upsell.
7. Create affiliate relationships – this is a host-parasite relationship. Back in biology class, you learned about the little protozoa living inside the termite. The protozoa enables the termite to digest the wood it eats. So both benefit. It’s a win-win situation. Businesses can do the same. And because of the affiliate relationship, a result is experienced that one party alone could not capitalize alone on. This is when you enter a joint venture with another business. For example, you could have a customer list and your customers have a good relationship with you. You can fully utilize this relationship with all kinds of ancillary businesses. Let’s say you’re a janitorial cleaning business and you specialize in the cleaning of industrial buildings, such as restaurants, bowling centers, doctors offices, etc. You would team up with a lawn service company to offer a total package of cleaning and lawn care to your customers. You could also team up with a pest control company to again, offer more value to your customers. Now all three businesses benefit, because now you are sending new customers to these businesses, and they are sending customers to you.
These 7 steps to outmarket your competition are very simple, and should be obvious, but very few people use these principles to the max. And rightfully so, it’s not easy to create your marketing funnel and also do the other important things in your business. There just aren’t enough hours in the day to try to do it all by yourself. It’s like if you have plumbing problems, you call a plumber. You don’t have time to try to figure out how to fix it yourself. The same goes for marketing and advertising. You simply hire a professional to help you do it.

How would you survive the stiff competition the year 2009 has to offer? Increasing number of competitors and global recession could make it difficult for any affiliate to survive in the New Year. It’s time to hone your skills and cultivate virtues that would keep you steady through out the year despite the turbulence in the market. The following virtues could be the survival strategy for any industry, not just affiliates.1. Hard work: Everyone you have come across from your childhood must have given you the same advice, your parents, teachers, boss. It still the best way to reach success. Affiliates must work hard to know their market and promote their products effectively.2. Smart work: There are smarter ways of doing things instead of working hard to accomplish a task. For affiliates SEO and SMO would be a smarter options if they want to increase traffic without going out of their way. There are other smarter ways of doing affiliate business which could be found through constant research and observation.3. Patience: Patience is a virtue which you can cling to even when your life is on stake. Affiliate business can grow with patience. Affiliates tend to abandon programs from which they don’t reap immediate result. Little patience and hard work with the program might turn it into a huge success.4. Connectivity: Staying connected with the affiliate industry keeps you informed about the happenings. Certain news could be turned to the affiliate’s advantage if he gets updated in the right time. Expanding network with fellow affiliates and the veterans of the affiliate industry can empower you with vital knowledge that can boost your business. 5. Adaptability: In this fast changing world it’s advisable to go with the flow rather than resisting change. Affiliates must learn to adapt with the latest trends in the affiliate marketing. They must not hesitate to come out of the comfort zone of familiar techniques to sustain their business in 2009.

Trade shows are excellent venues to launch new products, new offers, and upgrades to existing product lines. Why? Because, presuming you select the correct trade shows, your target market is there, accessible, and primed to learn.
Yet there is another challenge: differentiating your trade show displays from the rest of the pack vying for attendees’ attention. One way to set your company apart is to put as much attention into the development of your trade show display as you do the rest of your efforts on behalf of a successful product launch.
Trade show displays can make or break your success in attracting the kind of audience you want for the all-important launch. Starting from scratch to build a custom display ensures that your display will be fresh and in sync with the rest of the marketing supporting your launch.
Custom-built trade show displays allow you to be creative, dramatic, and highly relevant to support your launch in the most powerful way possible. There are virtually no limits to the design options you can use to make your statement and grab attention: graphics, materials, size, elevation, or AV components.
When you opt to build custom trade show displays, there are a couple of tips you may want to keep in mind:Timing
Building a custom display takes more time than usual. Allow enough time to ensure that quality standards can be used throughout the process and that you are also not stressed out wondering if you will make it in time for your first round of trade shows.
Reverse engineer from the start of your trade show schedule. You will want to allow four to six weeks for large custom-built trade show displays and six to 12 weeks for a mid-size island or smaller.Cost
One thing you will have to prepare for with the custom display is the cost. It is the most expensive to produce and has the highest operating costs due to size and number of packing crates.Alternatives
If cost is the dominate concern, consider the following options which also can produce the attention-grabbing drama you want for your product launch:• Custom Modular Trade Show Displays
Modular displays provide high quality exhibit imaging without the higher operating costs of custom displays.
Modular construction takes advantage of a large inventory of interchangeable pre-designed and engineered components such as back walls, counters, display pedestals and exterior panels. Lightweight structural materials such as aluminum, Plexiglas and high-grade tension fabrics provide simplified assembly, space-saving packing and often 400% lower shipment and handling costs.
The flexible design trend display components allow you to reconfigure the design or size of your trade show booths from trade show to trade show.
Custom modular trade show displays offer design and image quality with substantial savings in operating costs due to less weight and size and number of shipping containers.• Portable Trade Show Displays
Yet another option is the portable system that offers trade show display versatility. Lightweight portable exhibits are ideal for trade show exhibitors who require ease of use and a variety of display configurations while presenting a distinctive creative image.
Easily set-up, the portable system has a skeletal frame with attachable laminate panels, which simply clip together in virtually unlimited structural styles. Accessories such as bridges, counters, alcoves and backlighting enhance versatility of the interchangeable portable systems.
The trade show portable systems can convert from tabletop to island exhibits in minutes and adapt to almost any trade show display situation with minimal effort. Usually your own booth staffers can transport and assemble the trade show displays themselves saving time and the added costs of drayage and contract workers.
Portable trade show displays are an especially suitable option for the first-time trade show exhibitor and for appearances at smaller, regional trade shows.
Your product launch is critical to your business. Give adequate consideration to the selection of the trade show displays that will support your launch in grand style – you won’t regret it.
